Mark began his professional career as a high school Industry & Technology teacher before pursuing his dream of becoming a maker of fine stringed instruments. He began his training in lutherie by working for a family of Bulgarian violin makers doing repairs and restorations. Mark worked for many years mastering the skills of set up work, restorations, and tonal adjustments of violin, viola, cello, double bass, and their bows before turning his attention to the world of violin making. In his own shop, he custom built many specialty tools and developed an extemely sophisticated method for building fine violins. Mark is a member of the Violin Society of America and competes in their international competitions. He was invited to participate in Oberlin’s acoustics workshop In 2019 and plans to compete again in the 2022 VSA violin making competition.
The Atlas is a Stradivari model combining select details from Antonio’s most famous golden period violins.
